Picnics

Picnics are Welcome!

Andromeda Botanic Gardens does not receive government funding and it does not get
funds from the Barbados National Trust. Andromeda is independently managed and developed by a tiny and dedicated team. We rely on donations (mainly from locals) and entrance fees from overseas visitors to survive.

Private picnics - free but donations appreciated.

Professionally organised picnics - minimum donation of BD$50 - more if you wish!

Other sites charge BD$100-200 or even BD$20 per person. But we believe BD$50 is a fair donation towards keeping Andromeda open for all, especially for those locals who cannot afford to donate. Entrance is free for locals who simply walk through and/or stay and have a picnic and many do give a valued contribution. The donations pay our gardeners and keep us open and this has been the situation since August 2020. We continue to try to connect local people to our wonderful heritage by ensuring they are not denied access.

Thank you for your understanding. Now back to picnic joy!

Locals tend to picnic and it is joyful. Locals linger longer and laugh louder!

Come on overseas visitors. Bring a picnic. Sitting and relaxing with friends and family, eating, drinking and laughing are the best ways to enjoy Andromeda Botanic Gardens. The garden communicates with you and provides an even more wonderful experience. You'll see hummingbirds, bananaquits and monarch butterflies. You'll hear the sound of the ocean and you will smile at the wonder of it all! So come! Don't just walk through. Stop.

Some people stay for a couple of hours. Others stay all day. Some even stay until nightfall! Whatever your preference, have a wonderful picnic in Andromeda Botanic Gardens - THE inclusive Barbadian heritage garden .
